Blackburn defender Christopher Samba may stay put at the club; according to a spokeswoman for Rovers. Although the defender recently signed a new contract until 2015, it is believed that he wants to leave the club.

  • Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of the centre back. It is understood that the Frenchman will offer around 12m GBP for the player, but Blackburn would still like Samba to stay put at Ewood Park.

"We don't want to let Chris go," Blackburn's spokesperson Anuradha Desai told the Mail on Sunday. "I'm confident that we can keep him and I hope he'll stay. I know he has an ambition to play for Arsenal but I hope we can keep him for another year at least and prove our own ambition."
