Chelsea have added fuel to the reports linking Henk ten Cate with a move to Stamford Bridge after admitting manager Avram Grant is looking to strengthen his backroom staff.

ten Cate has reportedly been offered £2m a year to become Avram Grant's number 2 at Chelsea. ten Cate has experience as an assistant at a top club.



"Chelsea first team coach Avram Grant has made it publicly clear several times that he intends to strengthen his backroom team in addition to his assistant coach Steve Clarke," read a club statement.



"One of the scenarios Avram is considering is a team containing a British assistant coach in Steve and a foreign assistant coach, a system the first team are already familiar with."
