Fiorentina captain Riccardo Montolivo is one of several new players that Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas would like to bring to Stamford Bridge; with talk of a 12m GBP transfer offer for the midfielder.
Montolivo, capped 24 times by Italy, is thought to be one of the best young players in Serie A and with only one year left on his contract, Fiorentina are desperate to sell the player before it is too late and he can leave on a free transfer.
The player can play anywhere in the midfield, but prefers playing in the middle.
During the 2010 World Cup, the player played a central midfield role and it is believed that Chelsea sees Montolivo as a natural successor for Frank Lampard who turned 33 this year.
