Di Matteo returns to Chelsea

30 June 2011 - 01:21

Chelsea have made former star Roberto di Matteo their new assistant coach under Andre Villas-Boas. The former West Brom coach has been out of work for nearly a year.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Di Matteo signs for Chelsea on a 3 year deal.

Andre Villas-Boas praised the move and admitted he was excited to start working with the Italian: "We are proud defenders of the beauty of the game. It makes no sense for us to get into a club like Chelsea and play dreadful football.

"This is why this technical staff was picked, based on a philosophy of playing well and as a team."
