Arsenal wait for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Arsenal wait for Oxlade-Chamberlain

02 July 2011 - 04:49

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will wait until the end of July before making an offer for Southampton youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Gunners have been persistently linked with an offer of around 10m GBP for the England youth international.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Oxlade-Chamberlain was sensational for the Saints last year, and impressive performances had seen several Premiership scouts monitor the 17 year old.

Southampton's boss Nigel Adkins was quick to reject the rumours that a deal has already been agreed, insisting that he awaits an Arsenal offer.

"We had the same sort of scenario in January, he was going to leave then wasn't he? But he didn't.

"I think it will be interesting when does that materialise, if Arsenal or whoever does start talking to the football club.

"At this moment in time, he is at Solent University doing fitness testing with the players and I had a conversation with Alex last week, he was doing a little bit of training.

"He really loves being at Southampton. It is as simple as that.

"If Arsenal wanted to put a bid in I am sure they would put a bid in the right manner to the board and then this football club will decide what they want to go and do with that bad if it is offered."
