Aston Villa have moved a step closer to signing Charles N'Zogbia today; the Villains have reportedly agreed a £10m fee with Wigan for the French winger.

The signing of N'Zogbia at Villa Park should pave the way for Stewart Downing to head to Liverpool; a deal that Kenny Dalglish is hoping to complete by next week.



Alex McLeish has instructed club representatives to sit down with N'Zogbia tomorrow and thrash out personal terms with Villa.



It is understood that a deal for the Frenchman should be wrapped up by Thursday.
