Everton finished 8th and Reading 6th last year, and while Everton have gone from strength to strength, Reading have half as many points and in the relegation zone. A story of great signings? Quite possibly - but one can bet this will be a superb match at Goodison Park on Saturday. One thing is for sure - Yakubu will be missed.
Newcastle travel to the Madejski Stadium in a game which is crucial for both sides. Neither side goes into this game on great form, although they had mixed fortunes in last weekend's games. Reading sit in 12th while Newcastle are 7 points ahead in 8th, however, Newcastle defeated Tottenham last week while Reading were defeated by Blackburn.
Reading are playing Derby in the 14:00 kick off at the Madejski Stadium today. Reading have just two wins from seven games, whilst Derby have yet to win away from home and have yet to score away from home too. This really is a battle of the low-end of the table and will certainly be an interesting one.
Fernando Torres grabbed three second half goals as Liverpool battled past Reading in the Carling Cup. Torres showed the Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez what he may have been missing in their two recent goalless draws and the £24m man continues to prove his worth.
