Manchester United have reportedly been given the green light to pursue the signature of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred during the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old had been strongly tipped to join Manchester City in January, but a move failed to materialise.
Liverpool target Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be priced out of a move to Anfield, after his club Shakhtar demanded a huge fee for the attacking midfielder. The Armenian international has also been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been told that he is free to leave Shakhtar if the right offer is made. Liverpool and Juventus were linked with his signature but it appears German side Borussia Dortmund is winning the race for his signing.
Shakhtar Donetsk's attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan failed to show up for training with the Ukrainian club yesterday, prompted a senior member of the club's management team to warn the player he would be fined for any breaches of conduct. Liverpool have been chasing the player for over 3 weeks.
Shakhtar Chief Executive Sergei Palkin has insisted that he has had no contact from the Anfield side but accepts that the club would be willing to sell the 24-year-old midfield star this summer.
