Chelsea favourites to sign Arsenal and Liverpool target?

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia at the end of the campaign.

The London giants have been tracking the youngster since his move to the Saints and they are now keen on landing him.

Talks have been held with his entourage and Football Insider claim that they are now ready to finalise a transfer agreement.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also tracked the teenager's performances, but Chelsea reportedly have the edge in the pursuit.

The Blues are prepared to meet the £45m asking price for the midfielder and could guarantee him a significant salary hike.

Lavia has yet to give the green light to a transfer. He is prepared to wait until the end of the campaign to decide his future.

Even if Southampton beat the drop, the Belgian is likely to move on. The Saints are prepared to cash in on his services.

Manchester City have the option of re-signing Lavia for £40m but their buy-back clause only becomes active in June 2024.
