Arsenal & Man Utd battling to sign Sandro Tonali

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to battle it out for the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italy international has been an ever-present figure in the heart of the midfield for the Magpies and recently produced a fine display in the 2-1 Premier League win over the Red Devils at St James' Park.

Despite this, there is fierce speculation regarding his future and he could be on his way out in the summer, particularly if Newcastle don't qualify for the Champions League next season.

Amidst this, reports claim that Arsenal and United are keeping a close eye on his situation at the Tyneside outfit. Tonali's agent personally contacted the Gunners to discuss a move last winter.

The Gunners are prepared to make a formal approach in the summer but may not guarantee regular game time. United could however do so with Casemiro on his way out of the club.
