Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club have moved a step closer to replacing Keith Edelman. It is understood that Arsenal have already shortlisted various men to take over the role, including former Manchester City chief executive Alistair Mackintosh.

Alisher Usmanov continues to purchase up Arsenal shares as this morning it has been revealed that the Russian has increased his stake to 23 percent. The Russian paid £6m a share for a further 2 percent holding at £10,000 each.

Before the threat of takeover from Alisher Usmanov, there were worries that Kroenke could too mount a takeover bid. Arsenal's Managing Director Keith Edelman has revealed that the club does not need any significant financial investment and can compete with any club in the world in terms of finance. Earlier in the week, Alisher Usmanov had increased his stake to 21 percent to spark rumours of an imminent take over.
