Arsenal set sights on long-term target

It is reported that Arsenal could make a move for highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen star Lars Bender in January.

The German international has been in top notch form for the Bundesliga outfit in recent seasons, and is regarded as one of the finest midfield talents from the country.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners have been scouting the 24-year-old in recent weeks, as they plan to make an offer for his services at the start of the New Year.

However, they are likely to face stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund, who are also keen on strengthening their midfield department after a torrid start to their league campaign.
