Villarreal move up to second
Villarreal moved back up to second in La Liga last night after a 2-0 victory over Real Valladolid at El Madrigal. Real Madrid now have a 10 point lead over the Yellow Submarines after Barcelona dropped points at the weekend.
Nihat gave Villarreal a 15th-minute lead but were perhaps lucky as Valladolid had a few great chances to score a goal - but the Yellow Submarines held out.
Joseba Llorente should have given Viera no chance soon after though as he ghosted in unmarked at the far post to latch onto Sisi's cross, but the highly-rated forward was unable to keep his shot on target at full stretch.
Nihat almost made it 2-0 after being put through by Cazorla, but Asenjo managed to keep the ball out.
After half time, Nihat turned provider as he pulled defenders out to the right before drawing out Asenjo and then sliding the ball across to Cazorla to bag number two.
