Rangers in talks with Miller
Derby County striker Kenny Miller is close to making a controversial return to his former club Rangers. Derby Chairman Adam Pearson confirmed the discussion with Rangers about a deal to bring the Scottish international back to Ibrox.
Rangers are closing in on a controversial re-union with striker Kenny Miller, the player is in talks with his former club. Derby is set to sell him, the club chairman Adam Pearson confirmed that they will not stand in the way of the Scotland striker making a return to Ibrox.
"We've had early discussions with Rangers and talks are ongoing," Pearson told BBC Scotland. "But there has been no asking price either set or met."
Miller had played for Rangers in the 2000/2001 season and later joined their arch rivals Celtic in 2006. Some of the Rangers fans voiced their displeasure about the possibility of Miller rejoining the club.
David Edgar, the spokesman for the Rangers Supporters' Trust, said that Miller is an unpopular player and a vast majority of the fans dislike him.
"Rangers fans in general would never tell any Rangers manager who to sign."
"But the level of dissent shown by the supporters against a player who hasn't yet signed for us is unprecedented."
The Rangers fans were signing abusive chants against Miller in a Scottish cup final which they were leading by two goals.
"That is an indication of how strongly the fans feel about it.I certainly haven't heard anything like it before." added Edgar.
