Terry may not play for England

07 October 2007 - 12:33

England boss Steve McLaren may not play John Terry in the crucial upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers. McLaren is ready to gamble by dropping his captain John Terry in the key matches.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • Terry may be rested so he is ready for the game in Russia, and the game with Estonia is set to be a tough battle before the trip to Russia.

"The team I pick for Estonia will be one I think can win that game," McClaren said. "But I will look at the bigger picture as well.

"I've got to take that into account," McClaren said. "Do we want to miss players for the next game and take that risk?"

On the dropping of Terry for one game, McLaren said: "If there is any risk medically, people would know and he wouldn't take that risk. He says he doesn't want to miss any games and have any regrets at the end of his career."
