Mertesacker rules out Arsenal switch

Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker has vowed to see out his contract at the Bundesliga side, despite the interest of Arsenal.

‘I am a player of Werder Bremen and I like playing in the green-white of the club,’ the centre-back revealed.



‘Nothing will be changed on that.

‘I love being skipper of the club and I proceed on the assumption that I will at least see out the campaign in the colours of Werder Bremen.’



Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been scouting Mertesacker for several months.
