Barton continues comeback

Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton played a full 90 minutes on Wednesday afternoon as he continued his comeback from injury. Barton played in a behind closed doors friendly against a Rangers XI.

Barton finished up on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline against a Rangers team which included Magpies old boy Amdy Faye and former Middlesbrough defender Ugo Ehiogu.



It was the midfielder's third appearance for the club in little more than a week, after two outings for the reserves, as he continues his fight for match-fitness after recovering from a fractured metatarsal.
