Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga will not join Newcastle in January, after making peace with his club. The 24 year old striker had been at the top of Alan Pardew's shortlist.
However, a move failed to materialise last month and Maiga has been forced to stay at Sochaux for the time being.
However, in a complete change of heart, Maiga has revealed that he wants to stay put in France and rejected talk of a move to Newcastle: "Everything is forgotten. I don't want to speak any more on the issue.
"I have now recovered from some physical problems and I now have the chance to play in the first team.
"Every player likes to receive offers but in my case the president did not want to sell.
"He spoke with me and told me I needed to stay at Sochaux and I prefer to leave things the way they are."
