Lampard desperate for Chelsea start

Lampard desperate for Chelsea start

29 September 2011 - 06:31

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is hoping that the setback of facing time on the bench will help him in the long run. Lampard returned to action with a goal against Valencia on Wednesday.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Lampard insists that the setback will only make him stronger in the long run.

At 33 years old, many believe that the likes of Juan Mata and Ramires are set to take midfield duties away from the England international permanently.

Lampard said after the game: "I always want to play, that's a given. I've been like that throughout my career. I love playing for this club. I am very proud of playing here.

"I've had knocks before in my career.....it makes me worker harder to come back.''
