Ribery & Benzema ruled out

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema have been forced to withdraw from the French national team due to injury and will miss the team's upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.

  • Both players underwent tests on Monday afternoon by doctor Fabrice Bryand in Clairefontaine and were ruled out of the matches against Albania on October 7 and Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 11.



    Benzema picked up a hamstring injury in Real's 3-0 victory in the Champions League against Ajax, while Ribery picked up a leg injury in Bayern's match against Hoffenheim last Saturday.



    France currently top the Group D standings in the Euro 2012 qualification campaign and have amassed 17 points in 8 games.
