Cole sweating on scan

Cole sweating on scan

14 October 2007 - 10:01

Ashley Cole is sweating on his scan results after he injured his ankle severely during the match against Estonia. After being stretched off, the player looked in some agony. The player is waiting to find out if he will miss England's trip to Russia.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • "He rocked his ankle blocking a shot," said England boss Steve McClaren. "It doesn't look good but injuries can settle down in 24 hours and it is a critical period. We'll know more on Sunday evening when we reassemble. They have X-ray machines here so we're waiting for the results."

Lescott came on as a half-time replacement for Ashley Cole, and it is unlikely that he will play in the Russia game as Nicky Shorey is preferred for the full back roles.
