Sir Alex disappointed after Basel defeat

Sir Alex disappointed after Basel defeat

08 December 2011 - 05:59

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had no excuses after his side slumped to defeat against Basel in Switzerland in the Champions League last night, and admitted he was disappointed with the 2-1 result.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • "Of course we're disappointed," said Ferguson. "You have to deal with the disappointment, and this club has used it as motivation many times. It's a loss because it's the best tournament in the world.

"We have good young players, I have trust in my young players. They will feel the disappointment, they are going to have to cope with it and go on with their careers."

Manchester United only needed a draw to ensure qualification to the next round, but Basel surprised everyone and took all 3 points and qualified for the next round themselves.
