Fernando Torres for sale

Fernando Torres for sale

14 December 2011 - 10:30

Chelsea hitman Fernando Torres has apparently been placed on the transfer list with the club's management reportedly losing faith in the player's ability to live up to his price tag.

  • Torres first found fame at Atletico Madrid before moving to Liverpool in 2007. He became the fastest player to score 50 goals for liverpool and ended his four year stint with the Merseyside club by signing for Chelsea in the summer of 2011 in a massive £50 million deal.

However, he has struggled to find his form at Chelsea, scoring only 5 goals in 35 appearances at the club. His first goal for Chelsea came after 13 games, and the Spanish international has had subsequent dry spells as well.

A report in the Daily Mail claims that the Chelsea board have now lost their patience after Torres has fallen below Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge in the pecking order.

It is believed that Chelsea want to cut their losses and sell him for less than half the price he was purchased. A sum of £20 million will be enough to convince Chelsea to sell their £150,000-a-week forward.

A number of sides all over Europe are reportedly interested in signing the former Kop idol, with PSG and Anzhi Makhachkala monitoring his situation closely.
