Redknapp focused on Spurs despite England talk

Redknapp focused on Spurs despite England talk

15 December 2011 - 07:59

Harry Redknapp has called for focus on his current job with Tottenham; instead of reports of an opportunity to take charge of England. Spurs currently are well positioned in the Premier League in second place; but there remains some doubt over the long term future of their manager.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The FA are currently weighing up their options as Italian manager Fabio Capello prepares to step down as England manager at the end of Euro 2012, and it appears that Redknapp is the front runner to take the job then.

Redknapp's latest comments seem to indicate that he would be interested in the job when it becomes available, but for the moment he remains focused on his Spurs position: "I just have to get on with my job. That's all I can do. I don't know what will happen at the end of the season, if anything does. I don't look that far ahead really. I am not a person who thinks about next year or the year after, you start wishing your life away.

"I am only looking at what I am doing now. I have to keep focused on Tottenham. The only thing that enters my mind is getting them back in the Champions League."
