Ajax could turn to Cristian Chivu as a replacement for Jan Verthongen, who is expected to quit the Amsterdam Arena in the January transfer window, reportedly for Tottenham.
Ajax are preparing a 3.5m GBP offer for the Inter Milan defender, who has told reporters in recent weeks that he would be ready to quit the San Siro.
"Chivu is definitely an option in January (should Vertonghen leave)", said De Boer to Voetbal Primeur.
"We must wait and see whether it is feasible, but Cristian has always been very interested in Ajax."
