Gary Cahills Chelsea move falls through

Gary Cahill's Chelsea move falls through

04 January 2012 - 10:25

The Daily Express reports that Gary Cahill's on/off move from Bolton to Chelsea has officially fallen through yesterday, as the player and Chelsea have failed to agree on personal terms.

  • Benfica make first move to sign Chelsea defender
  • Arsenal preparing fresh move for Aston Villa star
  • The England international centre back reportedly asked the Blues for 125,000 GBP; enough to put the defender on par with England team mate Ashley Cole. But the Blues have stricter wage structures in place since the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas, and reportedly only offered 80,000 GBP per week.

According to the report, Chelsea and Bolton had already agreed a transfer fee; but the player could not agree terms.

If it stays that way, Cahill may choose to wait until the end of the season when his contract with Bolton expires; and then make a move elsewhere. Barcelona are amongst the clubs interested in the centre back in the summer.
