West Ham rejected improved Tomkins offer

West Ham rejected improved Tomkins offer

07 January 2012 - 17:49

West Ham have rejected a new 4m GBP from Newcastle for defender James Tomkins. The Hammers are hoping to keep their star defender at the club and fend off any interest from the Premier League.

  • Chelsea to complete deal for Pep Chavarria
  • Malo Gusto to complete move from Chelsea to Man City this week
  • Tomkins is considered one of the hottest prospects in the Championship, and the Hammers are having to contend with the interest of high flying Newcastle for the player.

"We want to keep James Tomkins, we really do want to keep him," said West Ham owner David Gold.

"I think it is fair to say he is not for sale."
