Hiddink: England panicked

Hiddink: England panicked

17 October 2007 - 19:56

Guss Hiddink revealed that an equalising goal was always going to panic Steve McClaren’s side, after watching his Russian side rescue three points after super sub Roman Pavluchenko grabbed two late goals.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • A jubilant Hiddink said: "We felt that if we came out in the second-half and put the pressure on, get the equalising goal and turn things around, then England would panic.

"England thought they had a good result, even with a draw, but you must always finish the job.

Hiddink declared: "We still have two very important games to go and it is not yet finished."

Russia must travel to Israel and play Andorra in their final two games.
