Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted that he was hoping a club of the size of Arsenal or Tottenham would try to sign the Italian, after Roman Abramovich famously fired the Paris St Germain coach.
Last week, Ancelotti put pen to paper on a deal with ambitious French side Paris St Germain, but if the Italian had it his way, he could well have ended up back in the Premier League: "Before PSG's call I thought of a year-long sabbatical, hoping that in the summer a job like Tottenham or Arsenal - a top London bench - would become available, but I was tired of not working."
