Etoo gets dual citizenship

Et'oo gets dual citizenship

18 October 2007 - 11:59

Samuel Et'oo has been rewarded with dual citizenship and a Spanish passport. The move comes, ironically, as the Spanish FA announced recently that African players will not count towards foreign places in the squad.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • A statement posted on Barcelona's official website on Wednesday read: "The Azulgrana striker Samuel Eto'o can already be considered to be a Spanish player after today swearing the Spanish constitution.

"In the next few hours Barcelona will notify the Spanish football federation (RFEF) and the LFP (football league) of Eto'o's nationalisation."

Eto'o's Barca team-mates Ronaldinho (Brazil) and Giovani Dos Santos (Mexico) also gained dual Spanish nationality recently, meaning Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure is the only remaining non-European Union player at the Nou Camp.
