Mick McCarthy not worried by sack talk

Mick McCarthy not worried by sack talk

24 January 2012 - 14:34

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is not worried about reports that he will be sacked by the club. After five and a half years in charge at Molineux, it appears that fans and the board are losing patience with McCarthy.

  • Chelsea set to hold talks with £22m winger
  • Chelsea set for contract talks with £26m star

  • But the former Ireland boss is confident that he can turn the club's fortunes around, despite a poor start to the season.

"The biggest reason as to how I cope is that I don't listen to the backdrop of what fans are saying," McCarthy said. "I do not go around in a glass cabinet - I am fully aware of what is going on.

"If you listen to it, you would go off your head anyway. I just make sure I get on with it with [assistant] Terry Connor, [goalkeeping coach] Pat Mountain and [development coach] Steve Weaver and we try to find a result.

"It is a results business but performances have been very good. We have played very well in recent weeks and I cannot question the perfomances at all. I would not have done anything differently against Chelsea and Tottenham and I could not have done anything to make us any better."
