Liverpool target Chile star Mauricio Isla

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has made Chile international Mauricio Isla his primary transfer target before the transfer window closes next week. The Udinese man is valued by the Italian club at around £17 million.

  • Frustrated Kenny Dalglish last week warned his players that they could face the axe unless he sees a significant improvement in form, and the disgruntled manager appears to be ready to take his frustration out on the transfer market. A report emerged linking the Reds with a move for Isla yesterday, and suggests the Reds will offer around £14 million for the versatile player.

Isla is comfortable playing in both defence or in midfield, and at times has even played behind the striker. The player joined Udinese in 2007 as a 19 year old, and has now been an almost ever present since then in the first team squad for the Italian side.

The 23-year-old has 18 months left on his current contract, and the player's agent suggested that Liverpool have already made an approach for the player two weeks ago.
