Newcastle manager Alan Pardew wants to sign Watford defender Adrian Mariappa, and will offer a reported 2 million GBP for the 25-year-old long serving defender.
The Toon Army want to sign a new defender this transfer window, as the long term injury absentee Steven Taylor still needs four more months before he can return to action.
Mariappa has played over 200 games for Watford, and has only 18 months left on his current contract at Vicarage Road.
