Everton submit late offer for Junior Hoilett

30 January 2012 - 14:16

Several news reports have linked Everton with a sensational transfer deadline day move for Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett. The Canadian player's contract will expire at the end of the season, and Rovers' manager Steve Kean has decided that he will let him leave now instead of risk losing him for free in the summer.

  • Hoilett and Blackburn have been locked in talks over a new contract for several months, but Rovers appear to be some way off in their efforts to persuade the winger to sign a new deal. Numerous clubs have expressed an interest in the player - including Tottenham - but so far have been unsuccessful in their attempts to persuade Rovers to sell.

However, Everton's sale of Diniyar Bilyaletdinov has given the Toffees a small transfer budget of around 4.5 million GBP to spend on new players, and David Moyes could use all of that transfer kitty to sign Hoilett.

The highly rated Blackburn man is happy to see out the remainder of his contract at Ewood Park, but Rovers' owners Venky's have now decided to part ways with the winger so that there is money to spend on new players this coming summer.
