Anzhi open Arshavin and Arsenal talks

31 January 2012 - 16:27

Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are understood to have opened talks with Arsenal for the signing of international captain Andrei Arshavin. According to reports, the player wants to stay in England but the Gunners are ready to listen to any offers.

  • Benfica make first move to sign Chelsea defender
  • Arsenal preparing fresh move for Aston Villa star
  • Arshavin has been underfire all season after a number of sub par performances for Arsenal, and has been persistently linked with a move away from the Emirates.

A move to Russia is unlikely to be completed today, but with the Russian transfer window staying open until February 24th, expect an Arshavin deal to be completed by February at the very latest.

Arshavin wants to stay in England for the time being, though, as he hopes to secure a British passport.
