Wenger laughs off van Persie exit talk

11 February 2012 - 08:11

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has laughed off suggestions that Robin van Persie will be making a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona this summer. The Dutch striker has scored 28 goals so far this season, and has so far yet to sign a fresh deal at the Emirates.

  • Chelsea to make offer for Martin Zubimendi?
  • Tottenham make £85m bid to sign Man City winger
  • There were reports emanating from Spain yesterday evening that suggested Real Madrid would make a mega money move for van Persie this summer, aware of the fact that Robin has only one year left on his existing contract.

That talk, however, has been shrugged off by Wenger. The Gunners are expected to open talks with the former Feyenoord forward when this season draws to a close.

"Frankly, Marca is as creative as some English newspapers. That means you cannot believe every word that is said in Marca," manager Wenger said. "At Marca they are very creative. They have created another story.

"They don't care, Marca, at all. I think they are even far more from real evidence than any English newspapers. They create just stories."
