Aston Villas summer spending plans discussed

Aston Villa's summer spending plans discussed

03 March 2012 - 03:34

Alex McLeish today admitted that the club have already been discussing potential transfer targets for the summer. The Villains have been linked with a move for Ivica Olic, and chairman Randy Lerner has reportedly given McLeish a budget of 17 million to spend come June.

 • Chelsea suffer big injury blow ahead of Everton game
 • Enzo Fernandez refuses to rule out Chelsea exit
 • 'We have already made plans to bring some players in. We have looked at a lot - Bosman signings but of good quality,' said McLeish.
'I've not been able to stamp my own personality on the team yet. But it was something I agreed to.

'We agreed we would drive the wage bill to a certain level before we started doing business again.

'So we are doing our homework now because we are being prudent. That's why we are scouting as many good Bosman signings as we can.

'I'm sure the chairman would sanction big wages again as long as it was kept within our parameters.
'Like I said in January, if somebody coveted one of our players and maybe I had to sacrifice to strengthen other positions, then that's something that could be the way ahead in terms of the plans.'
