Leandro Damiao puts European sides on alert

Leandro Damiao puts European sides on alert

24 March 2012 - 18:26

Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao has put Europe's biggest club on red alert, after the talented Internacional striker admitted that it was likely he would quit his homeland for a move abroad during the summer.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Tottenham are long-term admirers of the international striker, but were unable to agree a fee with the player's club last year. Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager, has since turned his attentions to other players such as French international Loic Remy.

However Italian sides Inter Milan and AS Roma are both believed to be keen on a move for the Brazilian.

Damiao said yesterday: “I’m used to living with rumours of interest from European clubs and have already been sold to several clubs in different countries.

“The time is right to go to Europe, but only to wear the jersey of a team as strong as Internacional. However, I am ready.

“I would like to play in Italy because two of my favourite strikers, Ibrahimovic and Cavani are there.

”But, I think I would also do well in Spain or England.”
