Arsenal captain van Persie relishing solo role

Arsenal's captain Robin van Persie admitted that he initially was concerned that Arsene Wenger wanted to play the Dutchman as a solo striker, but now is happy playing in that role for the Gunners.

Van Persie is currently top league goalscorer this year, and has also been impressive for the national team of Holland.<br />

&ldquo;I was hoping to play as a second striker. I never thought I would end up as a main striker,&rdquo; van Persie said.<br />
