Theo Walcott to miss rest of Arsenal season

22 April 2012 - 04:19

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott looks set to miss the remainder of the season through injury, after hobbling off the pitch with what appeared to be a hamstring injury in the 0-0 draw with Chelsea on Saturday.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Walcott pulled up gripping his hamstring then went off the pitch for treatment, but after being sent back on to the field of play again, only a few minutes later there appeared to be a serious problem as again the England international would grab his leg in pain.

Walcott will miss Arsenal's last three Premier League games, but should be able to appear  at Euro 2012.

"It looks like a serious hamstring. First we assessed the hamstring, he wanted to go on and stay on the pitch, and I think he should have gone off straight away because the second time it was a real hamstring problem," said Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.

"I think now for him it will be tough to come back before the end of the season. It is usually 21 days minimum. He should be OK to play for England, but I don't think he will be ready to play for us."
