Scott Parker eyes first international tournament

Scott Parker eyes first international tournament

28 May 2012 - 01:27

Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker is looking forward to his first major international tournament for England, and admitted he had fears that it would not be possible after several injury worries in the past.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • But now the 31-year-old is fit and appears to be in line for a first team spot for the national team in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

“I’ve waited a long time to break into the England team, never mind go to a major tournament, and to think I might not be there was disappointing," said Parker.

“But the medical team have done a great job and I’m going.

“Norway was my first game for a while and I’m pleased I’ve come through it.

“The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time, for Spurs as well, coming at the back end of the season after doing so well.”
