Wenger more confident Walcott's new Arsenal deal

12 January 2013 - 10:33

Arsenal are confident that they can persuade Theo Walcott to pen a new contract at the Emirates, after admitting that talks with the forward were ongoing. Walcott has been offered a five year contract last October but has yet to agree terms.

  • This week Arsenal were believed to have already agreed a contract in principle with the winger, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Wenger is however confident that the player will put pen to paper on a fresh deal.

"We are on a good road,” said Wenger. “In this situation as long as nothing is signed, you are cautious, but I am optimistic we will get to a happy conclusion,” he said.

“I was optimistic last week, but I am a bit more optimistic this week.”
