Former Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson has asked the press to leave him alone as he seeks to get on with his life away from football.
A series of unfortunate events including injury and mental illness saw the player quit football last year.
"I am more disappointed than anyone but that's the way it goes," Johnson said.
"I have been attending the Priory clinic for a number of years now with regard to my mental health and would be grateful if I could now be left alone to live the rest of my life."
