Liverpool boss Rodgers can't compete in market

21 April 2013 - 07:33

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has told reporters that his club are unable to compete in the transfer market with the likes of Chelsea. It's expected that the Reds will bring in some big names during the summer.

 • Chelsea defender suffers season-ending hamstring injury
 • Chelsea eyeing swoop for Newcastle United winger?
 • "Chelsea spent a huge amount last summer to try to get back towards the top of the Premier League again, and that was on a team that had just won the Champions League," Rodgers told the Mirror.
"It is simple: I just don't have the resources to go out and do that.
"What Chelsea did demonstrates the task we face in trying to make that step forward."
