Rosenborg shock Valencia

Rosenborg shock Valencia

24 October 2007 - 22:27

Rosenborg sprung a Champions League surprise on Wednesday after beating Valencia 2-0 in Norway. Rosenborg have shocked several this campaign and they grabbed a draw at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • Youssef Kone broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute thanks to a hash from veteran goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, who tried to block a weak shot with his foot but failed to allow the first goal.

Vidar Riseth sealed the shocking win one minute after the hour mark when he rose over his marker to head past the shaken Canizares.

Valencia tried to get back into the game but, in the absence of top scorer David Villa, they couldn't find the net.

Rosenborg climbed to second spot in Group B with four points, one adrift of leaders Chelsea, who eased past Schalke 2-0 in London.
