Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney has asked for a transfer. The Premier League winning striker is eager to make a move elsewhere.

Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the striker, but it is also understood that a move abroad would appeal to the striker.<br />

"We have refused it," said Ferguson when asked about a transfer request from the forward.<br />

"I think he should go away and think it over again.<br />

"He wasn't happy about being taken off a few times this season but a Wayne Rooney in top form wouldn't be taken off."<br />
