Gael Clichy signs Man City deal

19 May 2013 - 03:13

Gael Clichy signed a new contract at Manchester City seeing him stay at the club until 2017. The former Arsenal defender put pen to paper on a fresh contract last night.

  • Chelsea midfielder wants to play in Olympic games
  • Arsenal favourites to sign French winger ahead of Chelsea

  • City are expected to be busy shuffling their squad in preparation for the new season, but Clichy is one player expected to remain with the club under their new manager - who as yet is still unannounced.

"I'm really happy to have agreed a new deal with City and I'm already looking forward to next season," Clichy said. "Things didn't go the way we wanted them to this year but we'll come back stronger next season and learn from this experience.

"We are just going to keep moving forward and raising the bar. We know where we want to be and with the talented players in our squad there is no reason why we can't achieve our targets.

"When I look around me and see the quality players and the plans that are taking shape at Manchester City, I know that I am in the right place."
