AVB hunts Tottenham sporting director

19 May 2013 - 03:26

Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful that Tottenham will look to bring in a sporting director this summer. At the moment AVB handles team policy whilst chairman Daniel Levy handles player recruitment.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Villas-Boas has been very open with his throughts regarding club matters, and explained to reporters the reasons why a sporting director can help his team next year.

"We have been outlining the route ahead for what we want to do in terms of the club structures," Villas-Boas told reporters. "Hopefully the arrival of somebody else in the structure for the recruitment side, a technical director.

"It would be good to have the person that bridges the gap between manager and board and is able to be focused on the technical side of things. I told the club that it's somebody who is extremely important in my view of the structures of the club.

"Someone who has experience of dressing rooms, represents the club, is able to link up with players, agents, I think it's a very important role. It probably opens a wider market and we are able to touch different players. It will help with the club moving forward to the dimension that we want to arrive.

"It's something that I am used to working with. I have had a number of experiences. With Jose (Mourinho) at Inter Milan with (Marco) Branca working alongside us, it worked well.

"Not only me as a manager but when I was with him so I think it's something that works. Since the first day I told the club that it's somebody who is extremely important in my view to the structure of the club."
