Roberto Martinez has held informal discussions with Everton chairman Bill Kenwright regarding a move to Goodison Park next week. The Wigan manager has been told he is free to leave the Latics.
Martinez is one of the best up and coming managers in England and after guiding Wigan to the FA Cup several clubs expressed an interest in his services.
Wigan confirmed last week that they would let Martinez leave if a club pays out the remainder of his contract, believed to be one year.
The manager was spotted arriving in Liverpool for talks.
