Big spending Monaco in for Cabaye

13 June 2013 - 14:52

Yohan Cabaye , the Newcastle United midfielder recently expressed his desire to leave the Magpies. The CEO of Monaco Vadim Vasilyev has confessed that the recently promoted Ligue 1 side have a desire to bring the French International as they are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2013-2014 campaign to have a bid at the Ligue 1 title.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • During interview with the L’Equipe, Vasilyev expressed his views on what an exciting prospect Cabaye would be, if he is to join the Monaco outfit.

Cabaye has established himself as the midfield enforcer in Alan Pardew’s Newcastle side since his move from Lille in the summer of 2011, but a switch to the mega-rich Monaco could prove to be too enticing to turn down.

The midfielder had an average 2012-2013 Premier League season in contrast to his first which was sensational.

Cabaye has contract with Newcastle United until 2016. Monaco would have to come up with a substantial offer to convince the Magpies.

Monaco have shown their intentions of spending big this summer having already snatched striker Radamel Falcao from Athletico Madrid ahead of many top European clubs, while also acquiring the services of high-profile players such as James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho from FC Porto and the former Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho.
